Coldest December in 28 Years . . .

Posted by Tim on 5 January 2010 - 6:18am

When we were anticipating our move to Dublin in 2008 and before, we were told that it never snows!  Well, this is now our second winter, and it has snowed in both of them!  Here's a picture of our estate (sub-division) a few days after Christmas, and as of today (Jan 5th) most of it is still hanging around . . .

Below is a picture of Kathy with our good friend Sue Rowland in front of Sue's new apartment in Finglas (NW Dublin).  Sue is experiencing the snow of Dublin for the first time since here arrival from KY, USA.

In addition to the cold weather we have had our former guide dog 'puppy' Tullagh home with us for 2 weeks while his trainer gets some well deserved holidays.  He just left this morning with Aileen, his trainer, headed back to Cork - about 3 hours South.  He has about four more months of training before he will be ready to go to a new family - he will be an assistance dog for an autistic child and his/her family.  There are 200 children waiting for a trained assistance dog, which translates to a 2 year wait.  We are grateful to have been able to play a role in preparing Tullagh for this important work, we pray we may be able to do it again in 2010 with another pup.
