Mars Hill in Athens, Greece!
At 1:00am on Sunday morning, we returned from a conference that happens once every three years somewhere in western europe. This time it was on one of the many islands of Greece, about a 90 minute drive from Athens. While we were there, we got to go on a tour that included the Acropolis of Athens (a flat topped rocky peak about 450ft above the city) where the Parthenon and six other significant buildings were build over the centuries.
Just down from the Acropolis we were able to stand on Mars Hill. It was amazing to be standing where the apostle Paul delivered his Act 17 speech, which took about 3 minutes and convinced many Athenians of the validity of Christianity. Here's a photo of Mars Hill and what the view of Athens is from the top!
If you turn and look the other direction, up the hill to the Acropolis, this is what that looks like, just before dusk falls on the city . . . truly an incredible experience.
