Week 1 Is In The Books
It's seems impossible, but we moved our 4 duffle bags, 3 roller bags, 1 large roller suitcase and 4 carry-on bags into our new house one week ago this afternoon! We have been running so fast the past 3 months and now we are here. Dean Langley, the first team mate to move to Dublin 30 months ago called yesterday and said that sometimes he has to pinch himself to believe he is actually here also!
God is so very good to have already helped us get through many adjustments and an incredibly steep learning curve. I'm sure we are very much still at the beginning, but at least it's off to a good start. Kathy and Sarah have been going like crazy to get the house set up - which was mostly getting everything with which to run the kitchen. The house was furnished, except for the kitchen - so we now have a toaster, several pots & pans, drinking glasses, mugs (for tea of course!), flatware, dish towels, etc., etc.. We even go our broad band internet connection up and running yesterday afternoon! That was a huge blessing.
Now - how to meet the neighbors? We live in a pretty high density 'estate' with lots of 20 & 30 somethings, but it's cold and windy outside a good deal of the time. So what do we do? Well, here's one thing that worked - I don't recommend it, but it worked. On Tuesday night around 10:00 pm (still about 5 pm on our 'body clock') the door bell 'buzzed' (they don't ring here). We were very surprised - it was our next door (who lives about 18" on the otherside of our common wall) standing outside. You see we had left our house keys dangling in the door lock outside and forgotten all about them . Louise was very nice and told us that wasn't a good idea here in Dublin!
Well, Kathy made Louise a batch of her famous banana bread muffins and give them to her this evening. She is very sweet and perhaps this is the beginning of a kingdom relationship in our houseing estate. Pray for the hundreds that live near by - only God knows how to reach them, we want desperiately to be tools in His hands!

It's great to hear that you all are settling in a little. I am very excited to hear what happens when you start meeting all of your neighbors.
